Core Learning Programme
In 2010/11 most ministerial departments participated in the Core Learning Programme. It has now ended, apart from training courses exclusively for the Fast Stream. Participating departments have pre-paid for these up to 30 September 2011.Fast Stream training courses
See the Fast Stream home page where you’ll see links to these courses and others. From 1 October 2011 responsibility for Fast Stream training transfers to Civil Service Learning, the new central learning organisation for the Civil Service.
The Common Curriculum
Many of the courses that were in the Core Learning Programme can now be found in the Common Curriculum. It’s been developed in partnership with departments by Civil Service Learning. The Common Curriculum changes both what and how all civil servants learn. It’s about offering a high-quality training offer that meets the learning needs that are common across the Civil Service.
Breakthrough Solutions Consultancy Projects
Breakthrough Solutions is a consultancy service that uses the skills and experience of civil servants to solve public sector problems. It works like this:
- Departments nominate a policy or delivery challenge.
- Civil servants nominate themselves to work as projects consultants for one day a week for 12 weeks.
- We match the skills and experience of the people to the needs of the project and assemble a cross-government project team to work on it.
