  • Big Learning

Designed to encourage learning in all its forms, Big Learning features online publication of articles, handouts, ideas, reports, web casts, stories and activities - generously donated by partner organisations, professional bodies, universities and expert practitioners. Jonathan Porritt has donated a slideshow presentation – ‘What is Sustainable Development’ whilst Sunningdale Institute Chair Cary Cooper has donated a report -‘Time, Health and the Family’, which explores the integration of work and life for families and carers today. Bill Lucas, author and co-founder of Learning at Work Day has donated an article - ‘The Brain – Use it or Lose it’. Most of the material donated is copyright free, and Big Learning event organiser Graham O’Connell expects more material to be donated as the project gets under way. He explained: “We’re encouraging viral learning. Public servants will be able to browse, print or download anything from the site free of charge. However, in return, they will be asked to pass the word on to at least five colleagues. We’re hoping the same will apply to our donors, and that the word will get around.” Donations to the Big Learning event should be sent to Graham O’Connell at big.learning@nationalschool.gsi.gov.uk
