Customer Service events are an important aspect of the National School's portfolio.

The events include Charter Mark awareness as well as events for senior manager programmes (CSE1-4) and the popular Front-line Customer Service.

    Today's society is increasingly diverse. The challenge is for all public and private sector organisations to understand their staff and the people they serve. It is vital to value a staffs' differences and similarities. The National School of Government has linked diversity to the widely accepted Business Excellence Model (EFQM). Through the Diversity Excellence Model™ (DEM) we work with organisations to measure their strengths of diversity management and to identify areas for improvement.

    Every year there are 500 applications for each Fast Stream place, joining this scheme is an achievement in itself. Our modular programme of events and activities enables you to attain the know-how to successfully progress in your Civil Service career. Mapped against the Professional Skills for Government framework we can offer you more than training modules. We have brought together a number of elements to advance your profession including informal advice, e-learner support systems, and interchange outside the civil service.

    Our training and development programmes are designed for lawyers in government. Working closely with the Government Legal Service (GLS) programmes are cultivated and delivered with GLS support and advice. Regular training programmes are run in London and Sunningdale. Our legal team also support training events arranged by various GLS steering groups along with specifically customised, on-site training.

    The Government Social Research Unit (GSRU) runs a number of professional development courses in Policy Analysis and Evaluation.

    These courses have a high academic content and are specifically designed for researchers and other analysts working within government, and policy makers who work closely with researchers. They are designed to provide students with an understanding of the major quantitative and qualitative research skills relevant to designing, analysing and evaluating government policy.
