Improving Policy - Assessing the Impact of Public Service Agreements on Health and Wellbeing
Tuesday 24 March 2009, Commonwealth Club, London

Be at the cutting edge of understanding and sharing knowledge about how your policy work impacts on the health of citizens and communities. This free one-day workshop has been designed by the National School of Government for the Department of Health to pool the experience of policy and specialist practitioners. There will be headline guest speakers, specialist advisers from the Department of Health and the chance to participate in an interactive day of learning and development.

In order to meet the Governments objectives described in the new cross-cutting Public Service Agreements, it is important for those working on policy development to be able to assess a range of impacts and implications for their policy options.

Healthy citizens are at the heart of the desired outcomes for much of Government policy, be it knife crime, community housing, access to work or safe transport. All have an element of improving the wellbeing, health, and contribution of the citizen. Health Impact Assessment is part of Impact Assessment and it is used to help understand the full implications of policy development and to articulate this in a way which promotes and supports policy objectives from across Departmental responsibilities.
