On 18 December 2006, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation published a report (Alcohol strategy and the drinks industry: a partnership for prevention?) which examines the nature of the drinks industry, its perspective on alcohol problems and the formation and implementation of the government's alcohol strategy.
The report considers how policy has developed as a result of the government
identifying the drinks industry as a key partner in preventing alcohol problems
and reducing levels of harm. It looks at the industry's previous involvement
in education and research, its efforts to self-regulate and the role of
industry within partnerships. In addition light is shed on the government's
approach to alcohol problems and the drinks industry.
