Government policy on biofuels appears 'muddled and unfocussed'
On 6 November 2003, the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee published a report of biofuels (Biofuels; HC 929-1 Session 2002-3). The report identifies biofuels the only source of renewable power currently suitable for road transport. The crops from which biofuels are made, can bring both benefits and costs to biodiversity. DEFRA needs to clarify the goals.
