Capable communities

On 4 February 2010, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) published a paper (Capable communities) which considers the role citizens and communities can play in directly producing public services, setting out the challenges that lie ahead.

The paper puts forward the case for community empowerment, before examining how this important topic can move from the margins to the mainstream of the policy agenda. This work is informed by a specially commissioned poll that assesses public attitudes towards greater citizen involvement in, and responsibility for, delivering public services.
