On 30 January 2009, Communities and Local Government published a report (The credit crunch and regeneration: impact and implications) assessing the impact of the credit crunch upon regeneration in England.
The report seeks to explain how the credit crunch and economic downturn have affected different places, projects and people and what actions different organisations have taken to cope with the credit crunch and with what success.
It also attempts to establish whether there are any longer term opportunities as well as immediate challenges to regeneration and whether any projects, places or people are at greater risk than others.
Finally the report asks who, including government, should do what better or differently to reduce risk and stimulate regeneration in future.
