National domestic violence delivery plan
On 31 October 2008, the Home Office published its domestic violence annual report (National domestic violence delivery plan) detailing progress made in 2007/08 against set performance objectives.
Domestic violence accounts for 16% of all reported violent crimes. It has more repeat victims that any other crime, with repeat victimisation accounting for 73% of all reported incidents.
This report assesses performance against four specific objectives:
- increasing the identification of - and intervention with - victims of domestic violence by utilising all points of contact with front line professionals;
- building capacity within the domestic violence sector to provide effective advice and support to victims of this crime;
- improving the criminal justice response;
- supporting victims through the criminal justice system and managing perpetrators to reduce risk.
