On 2 November 2007, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) published a full report of the results from the 2007 Survey of attitudes and behaviours in relation to the environment (Public attitudes and behaviours toward the environment) which gives a representative picture of what people in England think, and how they behave, across a range of issues relevant to the environment, including transport and recycling. This full report, completed for Defra by BMRB, follows National Statistics releases of headline survey results released on 14 August 2007, and results of questions on wellbeing on 27 July 2007.
The results presented follow from previous environmental surveys run by Defra and its predecessors in 1986, 1989, 1993, 1996-7 and 2001. Where questions are comparable, time series are shown from the three most recent of these.
