Improving Government's Handling of Risk

In November 2002, Strategy Unit published a report which identifies the ways in which government needs systematically to develop its capacity to handle risk and makes proposals for improving the way government handles and communicates about risk to the public.

A key recommendation of the report is the implementation of a comprehensive programme of change to improve risk management across government. This will aim to ensure that an explicit appraisal of risk is embedded in all the key processes of Government (e.g. delivery plans; business planning; project and programme management; and performance management).
