On 21 November 2005 Department for Transport (DfT) published a policy document (Intelligent Transport Systems: the policy framework for the roads sector) which sets out the role of Intelligent Transport Systems in supporting delivery of government road transport objectives. It sets out a number of strategic actions that the department has taken and will take.
The document can be viewed on the DfT website as part of the section on Roads policy [DfT website] which contains overarching policy and strategy items related to the management of the road network in England.
