On 17 December 2003 the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister published
'National strategy for local e-Government: one year on'. This indicates
that two-thirds of English local councils expect to be e-enabled by March
2004 and that most authorities are making good progress towards the 2005
target date for electronic enabling of services. Only 35 of the 399 local
authorities who were asked to submit statements, were judged to have made
unsatisfactory returns.
