Councils on track to meet 2005 e-Government target

On 17 December 2003 the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister published 'National strategy for local e-Government: one year on'. This indicates that two-thirds of English local councils expect to be e-enabled by March 2004 and that most authorities are making good progress towards the 2005 target date for electronic enabling of services. Only 35 of the 399 local authorities who were asked to submit statements, were judged to have made unsatisfactory returns.
