Relocating public sector jobs

The interim report of the Independent Review of Public Sector Relocation chaired by Sir Michael Lyons was published on 9 September 2003. It identifies several potential benefits of public sector relocation. These include:

• cost savings to departments through improved recruitment and retention and reduced accommodation costs
• better service delivery to customers
• lower house prices and better commuting times improving quality of life of employees

The report describes the methodology and approach to the review and the context in which it is taking place.
