On 19 February 2009, the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) published its 2008 annual report providing an analysis of the drug control situation worldwide to help governments keep in touch with existing and potential situations that could endanger the objectives of international drug control treaties.
The report draws the attention of governments to gaps and weaknesses in national control and treaty compliance. It also sets out recommendations for improvements at both national and international level.
The annual report is based on information provided by governments to INCB, United Nations entities and other organisations. It also draws upon information provided by such bodies as INTERPOL and the World Customs Organisation.
