Outsourcing - good news for jobs, exports and productivity.

A report (Offshoring of business services and its impact on the UK economy) published on 8 November 2004 by the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM) finds that business services are an increasingly significant part of the UK economy. And despite fears for jobs in certain key sectors e.g. computer services being 'exported' to low-cost locations in Asia, the numbers of jobs in business services in UK are growing.

Moreover, the notorious productivity gap with the United States, notably in two high-skilled sectors - computer services and professional services, which includes accountancy, advertising and law - has almost been eliminated.
