On 25 October 2005, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) launched an online consultation on the Evidence and Innovation Strategy (E&IS) 2005-08 project. The project aims aims to deliver an improved, coherent and fit-for-purpose set of evidence and innovation activities that are better aligned and will support the delivery of Defra's Strategic Outcomes (as set out in Defra's Five Year Strategy) and longer term strategic direction.
The E&IS will also promote better integration, covering all of Defra's science and technology, economics, social science and statistics activities.
