On 19 January 2005, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) published the results of the first call for proposals under the Public Services: Quality, Performance and Delivery programme. The aim of this initiative is to provide a concentrated programme of theoretical and empirical research into quality and performance in public service provision, and thereby contribute to scholarly knowledge, public debate and policy development.
