Performance Improvement & Making Savings

Case Studies:

Developing and Implementing the Balanced Scorecard
We have worked with a number of clients including the National Environmental Research Council and ACAS in a consultancy context to assist them with development of a strategic approach to organisational performance management based on use of the Balanced Scorecard. This has consisted of assisting them with initial understanding of the principles and uses of the Scorecard including the often overlooked issues involving implementation. This has been followed up with briefing the SMT and other key stakeholders, helping the organisation develop a set of high level business objectives linked to their strategy and subsequent development of detailed performance indicators and targets that help the organisation to focus on what is really important in terms of measuring success. The focus throughout these interventions has been to work with the client to ensure that the Scorecard is developed and tailored to meet the organisation's needs rather than simply adopting the 'standard' scorecard as developed by Kaplan and Norton.


Job Evaluation Reviews

We have helped a number of clients engaged with reviews where issues of need, organisation, numbers and grading have been involved to improve organisational effectiveness and performance. These interventions have included helping with the detailed analysis and evaluation of posts using the JEGS2000 methodology to ensure jobs are correctly graded, assisting with the development of job roles and job descriptions and finally with the development of a suitable methodology and plan for the conduct of sensitive organisational reviews of this type.
