Having attended 'The Effective Board Member' you will have:

  • had an opportunity to discuss the role of your board and its members;
  • time to reflect on your own board role and responsibilities, and explore how it differs from your senior management function;
  • had a chance to hear from authorities in the field of board development;
  • gained a deeper understanding of the specific skills required.

    This programme is part of the Board Effectiveness and Corporate Leadership Suite of programmes.The Effective Board Member has been designed in collaboration with leading consultants in this field, with a clear focus on the Civil Service.
    These experts will open the programme with current thinking, and lessons learned. The focus will then move to practical exercises and discussion, exploring the issues raised, and the necessary skills and behaviours. A small amount of pre-course working will be required.

    Participants will also receive a copy of the Board Effectiveness Toolkit.
