    objectives

    All civil servants must have a firm grasp of parliamentary and governmental processes. On completion you should understand:

  • the changing British Constitution
  • the role of Parliament and MPs
  • the role of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet
  • the structure of government, including the EU, the devolved administrations and local government
  • the law-making process
  • the relationship between civil servants, special advisers and Ministers
  • the impact of pressure groups and the media.
